Suffered a knee injury due to excessive dancing and was on the verge of surgery
Started physiotherapy while being bed-ridden and worked on her expressions. Thereafter she studied dancers around the world to understand the aesthetic part of it.
Graduation was spent close to the stage. Dance was her focal point. Got exposure to dance festivals and events.
She was trying to figure out her life during post graduation and decided not to appear for Civil services or an MBA.
Did 7-8 internships while studying with bodies like Doordarshan, Crayons Advertising, Dainik Bhaskar and the likes in a bid to figure out her life. Her first placement happened at SMC media followed by Genesis BCW but never settled.
Started a T-shirt brand called Karma Republic - a concept driven brand - with a close friend.
Worked with a lawyer in Sector 17, Chandigarh for 8 months in the hope of finding herself but couldn’t settle in order to do something ‘new’.
With a passion for dance she penned down an entire structure for her own dance studio. She decided on the name ‘Dance Dacha’ which means ‘Second home’. That’s when she knew she wanted to pursue dancing as a career and she started teaching at her house terrace.
Participated in a National Latin Dance championship organized in Chandigarh and won 4 gold medals - with just one week of preparation.
She was approached by a previous employer who saw her newspaper article and he insisted on lending her his commercial space for teaching without any charges.This is how she started her first batch.
But life had other plans and while she was away for an exchange, the ex-employer’s close relative took over the place.
She moved out and started a new studio in sector 18. But soon her popularity grew and she found it very difficult to accommodate so many people in batches.
She was approached by the Principal of British School who offered her a room in the school to teach. This is when she decided to move to sector 44.
Juggling between classes and admissions was her greatest source of learning about business.
Dance Dacha became the first studio to bring rock and roll to India, to represent India in dancing world cups and introduced some very exciting never-heard-before concepts to India. She received great media coverage.
Was approached by Reebok for Chandigarh’s first ever sponsored event. 750 people came together to dance together in the same space.
Launched over 8 different and unique dance forms to the country.
Opened up another studio in sector 7 in the search for more reach.
Had to shut the studio in sector 7 as the brand was getting diluted and opened up another studio in sector 44.
COVID struck and offline operations came to a halt.
When things reopened, she collaborated with Immune Fitness to open Dance Dacha in sector 9.
Dacha completes 13 glorious years of dance fitness.
